Own magazine cover
The layout and colour scheme of my magazine front cover is inspired by the James Bond cover from my research. I felt this was an appropriate layout for my AS film because I was able to recreate the cover while presenting my film as an independent, arthouse production, much different to James Bond. I also used inspiration of the presence of a weapon to increase importance of my main character, however I feel this would be inappropriate to be put on shelves because of it's bad connotations to younger people, meaning I will not include weapons in my A2 magazine cover.
Strap line - The name of my film is key in demonstrating what the film is on the magazine so is placed in front of the main image. Despite this, I located it in a place where it is not the main focus but still informs an audience of what the film is called.
Superlatives - Words such as "unmissable" and "gripping" emphasise the quality of the film we produced and would be likely to attract an audience to look at the magazine and see the film.
Magazines - I used quotes from other magazines who reviewed the film in order to make the film seem more attractive. This is because people are more likely to watch a film if they have seen positive critical feedback on the film.
Main image - The main image of my AS film was taken post production but was staged in a way that it signifies the characteristics of the actual film. The lead character has a very serious face with a blade in his hand, promoting the potential crime and violence expected from our crime/thriller genre.
Background - The use of a dark grey gradient background was used in my magazine cover because it was not too dark to be unmissed and also allowed a good contrast between the background image and also allowed the masthead to stand out.
Other films - I created some other films to feature in the magazine cover with their own original pictures and names. These would act as a sub focus to my main film and be an additional way to attract an audience to my film.
Website - The use of a website allows my magazine cover to target a younger audience, like the one my film was originally targeted at. This is because people of the modern age would be likely to do further research into the film online before going to watch it and is another platform in which to communicate to consumers.
Bar code - Placed on the front of my magazine cover to show consumers my magazine is available for purchase.
Synergy - In order to create synergy within my advertisement campaign i attempted to use a similar colour scheme, layout and imagery in my poster and magazine front cover so that audiences would have been reminded of my film and relate it to what they had already seen elsewhere.
