Equipment list

During the production of our A2 thriller trailer, a range of equipment will be needed to enhance its production. This equipment had different purposes and was essential in the filming of our production.

Camera - This will enable us to shoot the film trailer, to present the film's narrative in depth using a range of camera shots and angles. It will also give us the ability to film our production in high quality because we used a Canon DSLR. Having a high quality camera meant that the footage we have can present our film as being of a higher budget independent film.

Tripod - This is vital to ensure the camera is steady during the production, to present the trailer at a professional level. The tripod gave us ability to film shots such as tracking shots, point of view and eye level shots because of the adjustable legs, meaning we could film shots from both high and low angles while still maintaining focus and stillness. We could also move the camera during shots smoothly and cleanly, further enhancing our shot diversity.

Transport (Car or Bus) - Transport will be needed to travel between filming location and reduce the time frame in which we film the scenes. This gave us more time to film shots in the correct lighting and weather conditions, meaning we could maintain continuity in our production.

Photoshop - To create the logo for our production company, Nightfall Studios and also for when we create the magazine cover and poster for our film. Photoshop is a platform which has a variety of image editing techniques, such as colour change, skewing of text and contrast adjustment. This means that it will be very useful for making other magazine covers, like the ones we previously created.

iMovie - To edit the footage to create a thriller trailer that portrays the conventions we found in our initial ideas, such as making our production suspenseful and "sinister". iMovie gives us the ability to add music that is not copyrighted from the music app's library, as well as allowing us to generate effects on our production, such as flash cuts, smash cuts and transitions in a quick and easy way. This means iMovie was more usable to editors of our skill level because of a basic and easy to use layout and allows us to create a professional final video, meaning iMovie is more favourable to other editing software such as Adobe Premier Pro.

Script - To ensure the cast know their dialogue and the narrative of the scene. We used a script that we created beforehand so that those acting in the film could refer to it quickly for pointers and information, minimising confusion in production.
Bubbl.us - Used to create a mind map when creating editing plans. This was a free mind map service that provided a good template for us to organise editing plans for our film.
